Bukhara Silk Road Overnight — 2 Days, 1 Night

Tashkent to Bukhara and back with one night in the old city: Poi Kalyan, the Ark, the madrasahs and Lyabi-Hauz — less rush, more Bukhara.

Travel from Tashkent to one of Uzbekistan's most atmospheric historic cities — a place of ancient madrasahs, minarets, old courtyards and centuries of Silk Road history.

Some cities should not be rushed. Bukhara is about a full day's road journey from Tashkent; driving there, sightseeing and returning the same day would mean spending most of the trip inside the car. So we stay the night: Day 1 is travel plus the start of Bukhara, the night is for rest, and Day 2 is more Bukhara and the journey home.

Price is per private group, not per person. Hotel accommodation is paid separately, from approx. $40 per night depending on date, location, room type and availability. Your driver (and guide, if booked) arranges and pays for their own accommodation.

Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    The road to Bukhara

Very early morning · Hotel pickup in Tashkent. It is a long drive — the destination is worth the time.
Arrive in Bukhara, check in to your hotel, rest and begin discovering the old city.
Poi Kalyan — the Kalyan Minaret (1127), Kalyan Mosque and Mir-i-Arab Madrasah, the icon of Bukhara. Mir-i-Arab still carries on Islamic education today.
Ulugbek Madrasah and Abdulaziz Khan Madrasah — historic architecture; look closely at the decorative detail of Abdulaziz Khan.
Ark Fortress — the citadel that served for centuries as the residence and administrative centre of Bukhara's rulers.
Lyabi-Hauz — a historic pool and gathering place. Walk around, sit for a while and have some tea.
Night in Bukhara — rest, reset, continue tomorrow.

  2. Day 2

Bukhara at your own pace, then home

Continue or revisit the main experiences — Poi Kalyan Complex, Mir-i-Arab Madrasah, Ulugbek Madrasah, Abdulaziz Khan Madrasah, Ark Fortress and Lyabi-Hauz — with time to walk the historic streets and stop for lunch.
Then the journey home: return to Tashkent in the evening or at night, depending on departure time, traffic and road conditions.
